As I looked back at my first essay and what I expected to get out of this course, again I gained more than I expected! I feel like all the workshops, teaching time, observations and feedback were invaluable!

I think the biggest thing I learned is that there is not one right or wrong way to teach. I have learned to make a lesson integrated and it can be fun to learn grammar! I have learned about adult students and what they come with and what they expect. I see myself evolving into a person who is getting more comfortable being in front of people
because I feel more prepared (thanks to you!). This course has been great and I have enjoyed meeting everyone here! I will send more people your way!!

I learned an incredible amount from the workshops and the hands-on teaching classes. Not only did I gain a specialized set of skills, but I also enjoy teaching a lot more than I used to.

I believe it is because I finally learned how to teach and its conceptual frameworks. I did not think I was going to take teaching as a full-time career prior to this program. However, my perspectives have changed significantly, and I now feel much more confident about choosing this route as a career. Although this program is just a brief introduction into the world of teaching, it has well prepared me for the upcoming challenges. Upon finishing this program, I am excited about the immense amount of opportunities out there. I would like to see myself evolving as a teacher who brings positive energy to the classroom, who cares about the growth and development of the students, and who makes a difference in the students lives by teaching them an important skill. It has truly been a fascinating experience. Thank you for everything. You will be missed.

My experience at BAE has been much better than I ever expected it would be. As you know from my first paper, all I really expected to get from this course was a TEFL certificate.

But I have learned a great deal during my time here and I feel that my life has been enriched through this course. All of the time in TEFL town has made me feel that I am prepared to start my first job. While I surely have much more to learn, I can now confidently prepare a lesson plan and execute it in the classroom. The six teaching hours I have completed have been invaluable to me. During that time I had the chance to teach real students and as we all have come to know, real students present a lot of challenges. They are at different levels, have different expectations and different needs. Having the opportunity to work with them has helped me gain the confidence I need to be able to say to myself, Hey, I can do this. Class was always fun but also very informative. My TEFL experience was much more than I imagined it would be and I credit your excellence as an educator for making my experience what it was.

I came to class with very minimal knowledge of what it means to be a teacher. I am leaving with a lot of information for only being here a month.

We were exposed to 6 very useful teaching modalities and I hope to incorporate a little of each of them in my own class in the future. I definitely learned the importance of being prepared, organized, and relaxed as a teacher. I learned that students actually get frustrated with you if you dont correct them enough. Games have never been my forte, but I learned that they can work wonders in a classroom. I never knew how much creativity goes into teaching. As I prepare to leave the course, I have a great sense of pride for having taken a TEFL course from such a well-accredited school. Thank you again for helping me take my first steps on a path to becoming a wonderful teacher who really makes a difference in peoples lives. I now feel that I am working toward fulfilling my lifes greater purpose.

Undeniably, I have a better understanding of what it is to be a good teacher and what a challenge it is. You cant just rip a page out of Side by Side and call it a lesson. Language is a gift and teaching it is an honor.

It is not any less a form of challenging social work than doing Food Stamp applications, calling the MassHealth hotline, or finding useless jobs. TEFL is an addiction, just less hazardous than most. I dont know if I want to teach English, but now I have to, powered by some internal propulsion. I look for warm up activities, in even the most obscure places. Teaching has creative avenues, if you seek them out. Its ok to be daring and experimental as an ESOL teacher. Teaching, in its own way, is an art form, your own art form.
